Debt Limit Talks Made Little Progress – Debt Ceiling Deadline Looms

Debt limit talks on Tuesday at the White House between President Joe Biden and Congressional leaders made little progress on Tuesday. McCarthy said they remain far apart and that an agreement might not happen. This was the last chance for a deal before President Biden leaves for an international trip. And as the debt ceiling deadline looms, chances to raise the debt limit before the US defaults on it’s debt for the first time in history are running low. And all of this is happening as the economy continues to slow down and get closer to a 2023 recession. Home Depot reported their worst earnings in nearly 20 years and multiple companies reported layoffs on Tuesday.
